Welcome to 6th grade! I am looking forward to the new school year.  I want to introduce myself as your child’s 6th grade science teacher.   

I am new to Hernando Middle School this year just like many of you.  I am eager to start the year as I hope you are.  Being my first year at HMS, you all will be extra special to me! I graduated from the University of Memphis with a Bachelor of Science in Education.  I grew up in Southaven, Ms so I am a veteran of DeSoto County Schools.  I taught at Center Hill Middle before moving and teaching in Knoxville, TN. For the last four years, I worked from home helping my husband with his business and spent extra time with my babies.  I am very excited to return to the classroom. 

Science is all around us in everything we do, and I believe it is important for my students to develop an interest and enthusiasm in this area.  I will engage their young minds with inquiry-based learning, while reinforcing important literacy and mathematics skills.  Over the course of the year, we will focus on physical science, life science, and Earth and space science.  I will address multiple learning styles through various resources of the state-specific content.  I will encourage your child throughout the year to be intrigued with the world in which we live.
